Developer Working on Fix for Helldivers 2 Griefing Issue

Arrowhead Game Studios is addressing a problem in Helldivers 2 where players are unfairly kicked from missions early. Recent viral clips show divers being booted during extraction, or even during the extraction cutscene. Griefers and trolls are present in most multiplayer games, and even the Super Earth forces are not immune to turncoats.

Solution in the Works

In the Helldivers 2 Discord channel, community manager Twinbeard mentioned that a “solution” is being worked on to deal with situations of unfair griefing. One player suggested keeping 50 percent of the samples collected if kicked by a lobby leader. Twinbeard stated, “We’re actually working on a solution to mitigate problems with ‘getting kicked by an arsehole lobby leader’ as someone once eloquently put it. No ETA on that, but it’s coming.”

Community Suggestions

The exact solution is still uncertain, but the Helldivers 2 community has plenty of ideas. One suggestion from Reddit is inspired by the co-op game Deep Rock Galactic, where kicked players receive 25 percent of the XP and resources they collected. Another proposal involves a reputation system, where players can rate each other at the end of missions. Well-behaved divers would be matched with others like them, while trolls and griefers would be grouped together.

In analyzing the original article, it is clear that there is an issue with players being unfairly kicked from Helldivers 2 missions. While the development team is working on a solution, the community is also actively suggesting ways to address the problem. The idea of a reputation system seems promising, as it could encourage positive behavior and discourage griefing. It is essential for developers to take action against such disruptive behavior to maintain a positive gaming experience for all players. Griefers and trolls should not be allowed to ruin the gameplay for others, and efforts to prevent this are crucial for the overall health of the game.
