Exploring the New Young Sherlock Series Coming to Prime Video

Amazon MGM Studios has recently announced a new series titled Young Sherlock, which will be executive produced and directed by Guy Ritchie. This incarnation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective will feature Hero Fiennes Tiffin in the title role. Unlike the 1985 Young Sherlock Holmes movie, this new show will draw inspiration from Andy Lane’s Young Sherlock Holmes novels.

Young Sherlock will present audiences with a fresh origin story for the iconic character, focusing on Sherlock at 19 years old. Described as “disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed,” Sherlock finds himself embroiled in a murder case at Oxford University where he is one of the suspects. As the story unfolds, Sherlock uncovers a thrilling globe-trotting conspiracy that will forever change his life.

Guy Ritchie, known for directing two Sherlock Holmes movies starring Robert Downey, Jr., is excited to delve into this new take on the character. Ritchie stated, “In Young Sherlock we’re going to see an exhilarating new version of the detective everyone thinks they know in a way they’ve never imagined before. We’re going to crack open this enigmatic character, find out what makes him tick, and learn how he becomes the genius we all love.”

Hero Fiennes Tiffin, who has previously worked with Ritchie in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, will be portraying the young Sherlock Holmes. With a successful career that includes roles in the After films and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Fiennes Tiffin’s portrayal is highly anticipated. Additionally, Matthew Parkhill will serve as the showrunner and an executive producer for Young Sherlock, which is set to have an eight-episode first season.

Although Prime Video has yet to announce a release date for Young Sherlock, fans of the detective genre are eagerly awaiting the premiere of this reimagined series. With a talented cast and crew behind the project, viewers can expect a riveting and captivating exploration of the early days of Sherlock Holmes. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting new addition to the Sherlock Holmes universe on Prime Video.
