Microsoft Announces Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Day One Release on Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft has confirmed that the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will have a day one release on Xbox Game Pass, following a technical error that leaked the information a few hours before the official announcement. Verge senior editor Tom Warren shared on Twitter that alerts were mistakenly sent out from the Xbox Game Pass app, leading to a dead page with the URL “play-call-of-duty-black-ops-6-day-one-game-pass”. Warren’s post revealed that the app on iOS and Android notified users that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 would be coming to Game Pass on the day of its release later this year.

Xbox Wire Confirms the News

Shortly after the accidental notification, Xbox Wire published a post confirming that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will indeed have a day one release on Xbox Game Pass. While the announcement may not come as a surprise, as Microsoft’s first-party games typically have day one Game Pass releases, it is still noteworthy that the game made the list now that it falls under the wider Microsoft umbrella post-acquisition.

The previously concealed Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct showcase is set to premiere immediately after the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase on June 9 at 10am PT (June 10 at 3am AEST). Both livestreams will be accessible on the Xbox Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook channels. Additionally, they will be available in American Sign Language (ASL) with English audio descriptions on the Xbox ASL Twitch channel.

The revelation of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 having a day one release on Xbox Game Pass signifies Microsoft’s commitment to providing value to Game Pass subscribers. By including highly anticipated titles like the latest installment in the popular franchise, Microsoft aims to attract more users to the subscription service. This move also solidifies the integration of all first-party games into the Game Pass library, enhancing the overall gaming experience for players.

Microsoft’s announcement regarding the day one release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on Xbox Game Pass has generated a significant buzz in the gaming community. Despite the initial leak due to a technical error, the confirmation of the game’s availability on Game Pass reinforces Microsoft’s dedication to offering compelling content to its subscribers. With the upcoming showcase and launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, fans of the franchise can look forward to experiencing the game on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
