The Latest Gaming Monitors Unveiled by Acer for CES

Acer has recently announced an exciting lineup of gaming monitors for CES, showcasing their commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology and immersive gaming experiences. Among the new models are the monstrous 57-inch dual-4K Acer Predator Z57, as well as OLED and mini-LED panels in various sizes. Let’s delve into the details of these remarkable monitors and explore what they have to offer.

Dubbed as the “beast,” the Acer Predator Z57 is an impressive gaming monitor that is likely based on the 57-inch Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 G95NC. While Acer hasn’t explicitly mentioned it, the specifications suggest a close resemblance. The Acer Predator Z57 features a 57-inch 32:9 aspect panel, utilizing VA technology for stunning visuals. Being one of the few monitors with such expansive dimensions, the Predator Z57 stands out among its competitors.

Although the Acer Predator Z57 and Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 G95NC share many similarities, there are a few notable differences. Samsung boasts a mini-LED backlight with 2,392 zones, while Acer’s offering has 2,304 zones. The hardware between the two monitors is likely identical, but the implementation may vary slightly. Furthermore, the Acer monitor is limited to a 120Hz refresh rate, whereas Samsung provides a full 240Hz. However, achieving such high frame rates is challenging given the dual 4K resolution of 7,680 by 2,160 pixels. Currently available GPUs may struggle to reach 240fps in modern games. Additionally, to run at 240Hz on the dual-4K monitor, DisplayPort 2.0 is required, which excludes existing Nvidia graphics cards.

One aspect that may give potential buyers pause is the pricing of the Acer Predator Z57. With an MSRP of $2,499, it aligns with the Samsung panel despite its lower refresh rate specification. This pricing strategy raises questions as to the competitiveness of the Acer monitor. To truly captivate enthusiasts, the Z57 should ideally be priced well below $2,000, making it an irresistible option for gamers seeking top-tier monitors at a reasonable cost.

Apart from the massive Predator Z57, Acer also unveiled two OLED monitors – the Acer Predator X39 and Acer Predator X34 X. Both models feature a 3,440 by 1,440 resolution, delivering crisp visuals across their 34-inch screens. With a refresh rate of 240Hz, these monitors offer smooth and fluid gameplay experiences. Additionally, they come with DisplayHDR 400 True Black certification and claim a remarkable 0.01ms response time.

Contrary to Samsung’s QD-OLED panels, Acer’s OLED monitors employ LG WOLED panels. LG’s latest WOLED technology has narrowed the gap in terms of full-screen brightness between the two panel manufacturers. This positions Acer’s OLED monitors as enticing options for gamers seeking exceptional visual quality. However, the pricing of these monitors may give some potential buyers pause. The Acer Predator X39 is priced at $1,499, while the Predator X34 X is $1,299. In comparison, Alienware offers a more affordable option with their 34-inch OLED monitor, the Alienware 34 AW3423DWF, priced at $800. Although the Alienware monitor runs at a lower 165Hz refresh rate, the price difference of $500 for the higher refresh rate of the Acer models is a point to consider.

Adding to their impressive lineup, Acer introduced the Acer Predator X34 V3, a 34-inch ultrawide monitor featuring LCD technology and a mini-LED backlight. With 2,304 zones, the same as the Z57, this monitor boasts a refresh rate of 180Hz and DisplayHDR 1000 certification, delivering vibrant and dynamic visuals. Although the pricing for this specific model has not been disclosed, it’s safe to assume that it will fall in line with the pricing of the other monitors in Acer’s range.

Acer’s latest gaming monitors showcased at CES 2022 offer a wide range of options for gamers seeking immersive and visually stunning experiences. From the massive Acer Predator Z57 to the OLED and mini-LED panels, these monitors cater to different preferences and budgets. While pricing remains a concern for some models, Acer’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of gaming monitor technology is evident. Gamers can now eagerly anticipate the release of these monitors and choose the one that best suits their needs and desires.
