Analysis and Speculation of the Future of AMD Ryzen CPUs

However, if AMD allows easy adjustment of the core multiplier in the upcoming 9000X3D chips, users could potentially achieve clock speeds comparable to non-X3D CPUs while still benefiting from the gaming performance offered by the X3D CPUs’ large cache.

One of the main concerns that AMD had with previous X3D chips was the risk of users burning out their CPUs by increasing voltages beyond their tolerances. This was due in part to the Through Silicon Vias (TSVs) that link the cache to the underlying die. However, if AMD has improved the design of these TSVs in the 9000X3D chips and allows for multiplier and voltage adjustments, it could make these CPUs a very compelling option for enthusiasts.
